Why I have created this website
Over the years I have been involved in Town Centre Management including a Town Team, Portas Review and have worked for a number of Business Improvement Districts. Over the years as the number of BID’s grows, there has been and still is, in my view a missing opportunity that can support Business Improvement Districts, Local Authorities, Town Teams and other Place Making organisations to make use of to benefit their own organisations but also benefit those they represent.
The BID Directory is NOT trying to replace or be something that already exists with other organisations including British BID’s, ATCM or the newly announced The BID Foundation. After talking to a number of people in the industry over the years from both those who run BID’s, work for local authorities or supply services and goods that there has never been a place where all could come together. I have been very keen to ensure that there should also be a completely independent place where all can help create, share and promote the great work that happens on a daily basis.
This is NOT a membership organisation, instead, I offer an open invitation to work with all other membership organisations that already exist to promote the great things already on offer. Whilst there are some areas of overlapping, the other keen area of interest for me is to provide somewhere where it is FREE for Business Improvement Districts, Local Authorities and Town Teams to support their local areas nationally especially about events and news. While BID’s may get local publicity for these two areas especially, there has never been a place nationally that they can use to promote for example festivals etc.
While staying independent, we also feel that we can share information to promote the news, membership, deliveries and events of the other membership organisations together in one place which benefits the industry. This also goes for Suppliers and organisations as some of the more established BID’s or local authorities who have been around for some time may not find this useful, there are many more who may and should use those locally but there are always deliveries or projects which need specialists to support them.
I hope you enjoy and find the website useful. Please keep up to date with us on our social media profiles and please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss partnerships or how we can all benefit and support the BID industry.
